Rockville Offers Resources for Federal Employees, Contractors Affected by Shutdown

The City of Rockville is providing services and programs for federal employees and contractors who live within the City of Rockville and are impacted by the federal government shutdown.
The federal government shutdown does not affect City of Rockville municipal government programs, services or assistance.
Struggling federal employees and contractors could be eligible for delayed payment options, with no penalties, on certain city services, including child care, water bills, rent payments, pet license fees and food services.
Residents seeking delayed payment options can contact the relevant city department for more information and must provide proof of Rockville residency and federal employment, or of being a federal contractor (for example, with a federal employee/contractor ID badge or employer’s letter).
- Child Care: Federal employees and contractors (with proof) with children enrolled in city child care programs may be eligible for delayed payment with no penalties. Visit www.rockvillemd.gov/childcare.
- Utility Assistance: Federal employees and contractors (with proof) could be eligible for delayed payment with no penalties on water and sewer utility services provided by the city. Visit www.rockvillemd.gov/utilitybilling.
- Landlord and Tenants: Landlords and tenants can seek assistance in negotiating rent payments to prevent eviction. Visit www.rockvillemd.gov/reap.
- Pet Licenses: Federal employees and contractors (with proof) could be eligible for delayed payment with no penalties on animal licenses provided by the city. Visit www.rockvillemd.gov/petlicenses.
- Residential Parking Permit: Federal employees and contractors (with proof) could be eligible for a residential parking permit fee waiver. Visit www.rockvillemd.gov/parkingpermits.
